LONG BEACH - The royals rendezvous at nightfall when the cruise ship Queen Victoria pays a call on the Queen Mary tonight amid fireworks and whistle salutes.
Best viewing location is from the Queen Mary's Promenade Deck at the back of the ship, according to ship company officials. Admission to the Queen Mary will be free, but parking will cost $12.
The Queen Victoria will sail into Long Beach Harbor at about 6 p.m. today and stay for about 30 minutes, exchanging whistle salutes during a fireworks display.
Sightseers wanting a view of the visit can watch from the city's shoreline, including the Belmont Veterans Memorial Pier, where there is plenty of less pricey public parking.
