LONG BEACH - Three people are lucky to be alive today in the wake of a collision that tore one car in two and totaled another, according to the Long Beach Fire Department.
The crash occurred just before 12:50 p.m. on Wednesday, when firefighter-paramedics were called to Spring Street just east the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway.
"One of the involved vehicles had been cut into two separate pieces from the collision with another vehicle," Steve Yamamoto of the Long Beach Fire Department said in a statement.
"The front half of the car stayed on the street while the other half was launched down the embankment below. Amazingly, the 27-year-old female driver and the 9-year-old male passenger only sustained moderate to minor injuries."
